On foot or by wagon
At the age of 19 our countryman, great Encyclopaedist and genius Mikhail Vasilievich Lomonosov travelled to Moscow on foot with a fish wagon in spite of severe low temperature. He set off in his home village of Mishaninskaya (today this is the village of Lomonosovo, Kholmogorskiy district). He made the Arkhangelsk North famous in the whole world.

In memory of Lomonosov annually different expeditions take place in Arkhangelsk region: walking expeditions, car expeditions, bus and even draught dogs' expeditions. Participants of them take the same route that Lomonosov did.

Lomonosov's way ran across old road to Moscow that passed territories of modern Kholmogorskiy, Vinogradovskiy, Shenkurskiy and Vyelskiy districts.
