Pomor tourism has got state support

27 June 2014
“Belomorsky” and “Kotlas-Solvychegodsk” tourist recreational clusters were endorsed for implementation under the state target programme “Development of inbound and outbound tourism in the Russian Federation (2011-2018)”.

This decision was announced at the meeting of the Council for State Target Programmes on June 11 in Moscow. State target programme presupposes state support for tourism projects, first and foremost – construction and reconstruction of tourism infrastructure facilities.

“Belomorsky” tourist recreational cluster is the 7th in the list of perspective projects of Russia. Tourism development in Kotlas and Solvychegodsk was awarded the 18th place.

Other projects from the North-West of Russia include projects from the Vologda region (15th and 37th place) and Komi Republic (24th place).

The Arkhangelsk Region expects to get financing of 1.5 bln rubles. Financing will also be attracted from regional and municipal budgets, and non-budget sources.

– Being included into the state tourism programme is a big step forward. It means we progressed in writing competitive tourism projects and attracting tourists to our northern region, and it proves that the government and business are interested in developing the region as a whole, – Arkhangelsk Region Governor Igor Orlov noted.
