The everyday life of the Russian village is re-created, the examples of the traditional culture, ethnographic traditions, the national culture, the crafts, the oral folk art are represented in the museum among the monuments of wooden architecture. This is an open air museum, which unites several villages by the name Oshevensk. These are Shiryaikha, Pogost, Niz, Gar, Big Khaluy, Small Khaluy and Bor. This is rather big territory where the traditional northern houses with the Russian ovens are well preserved. You can not only see this house, but also live in it.
All the museum’s objects, created and preserved by the local inhabitants, are situated in the natural and cultural environment. Everyone is talkative here, they share their experience, they are hospitable and interested in the traditional culture and are ready to help in any situation.
The archive of the ethnographic expeditions (more than 300 of audio- and video-records), more than 100 exibits, the history, everyday life and crafts, which characterize the region in the 15th – 20th centuries are represented in the museum.
